Venegazzù 2021 DOC Montello Magnum
The VENEGAZZU’ is Count Loredan’s historic wine, recognised internationally as one of the first high-quality wines produced in Italy; its first vintage, from 1951, is also believed to have been the first Italian Bordeaux-style blend. It is the full expression of the Venegazzù terroir, in the Alta Marca Trevigiana region north of Venice. Created in the 1950s as the result of a meticulous selection of the estate’s finest grapes, it has always represented an original and pioneering approach to blending Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec, where the wonderful freshness of Venegazzù’s iron-rich soils lends a natural elegance. A specific sub-zone, Venegazzù, was even created within the Montello DOC for this unique wine – a truly rare occurrence amongst Italian wine appellations. A wine of great intensity and elegance, it masterfully combines a ‘substantial’ structure with the estate’s winemaking tradition.
