STORY
The Azienda Agricola Ronco Blanchis is located in the small rural village of Mossa, on the sunny slopes of Colle Blanchis in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The lands in this area renowned for the quality of its white wines since the days of the Austrian Empire, once belonged to the Austrian Catterini de Herzberg and and to Don Silverio de Bauger de Corsi y Ribas, minister to the King of Spain.

It was only in 2001 that Giancarlo, Lorenzo and Alberto Palla purchased the estate and, with the prestigious collaboration of oenologist Gianni Menotti, they continue to transform the quality of these grapes into fine wines.

Ronco Blanchis (from the Friulan “fianco, or side of a hill”, “Blanchis”, white, like the colour of wine, vocation of these lands) grows grapes in order to produce Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Friulano and Pinot Grigio.

The farm produces wines D.O.C.:

  • Collio Friulano
  • Collio Pinot Grigio
  • Collio Sauvignon
  • Collio Ribolla Gialla
  • Collio Malvasia
  • Collio
  • Blanc de Blanchis

The decision to restrict production to a few wines is dictated by the desire to produce high quality products that could be the expression of the local variety.

VINIFICATION
The technique implemented by Ronco Blanchis is defined in "reduction", that limiting the contact between the grapes, must, wine and oxygen.

For this reason, the grapes are not crushed and de-stemmed but are sent directly to the press and the must obtained is fermented in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures, limiting the contact with the air.

This technique allows to preserve all the flavors from the grapes to the wine in the bottle.
